THIS IS CALLED SCREWING BADLY

I want to write about one of my test paper, which I screwed so badly.

Test consisted of 3 sections English, Quant, DI

English section
This section has always been a nightmare to me which consists of

i) Incomprehensible & never ending passages

ii) Erratic Sentence correction questions

iii) notorious FIJ questions

iv) Jumbled sentences. etc..

I usually take a bath before I start answering any english paper, so that i wont sleep while reading psycological/philosophical type of sentences.

The passages in this section were so large that 1st glance at each of them gave me atleast 2 yawns. But there is no other way out to escape, have to read these boring philosophical/psycological passages to get some marks.

Coming to English sentence correction questions. These are easy to read and more easier to get them wrong (already made a mistake " more easier"????)

Let's see some typical sentence correction questions, where in you need to find out grammatically incorrect sentences
a) His wife divorced him because he had had an affair

b) We have been made to suffer so much from memorising rules by rote that we tend to despite grammar.

c) "Students can come to my home and they can be a part of it, but there are rules"

Just as soon as I finished reading sentences I saw 1st statement as wrong one. How can this happen "he had had an affair" In this fashion I answered all the questions with confidence.
But the real cry started while I was checking solution sheet.

The answer opted for above 1st question was (a) But from solution sheet answer turns out to be (c). I wondered how come its possible, but explanation of answer was this way: Sentence (c) is wrong as "we are part of something" not "a part of something". Article is used only when we want to indicate that we 'play a part' (a role) Similarly 2nd, 3rd gone wrong,,,,,then I hoped atleast next one would be right..OOOps that too was wrong. Finally my solution paper was filled with more cross marks than tick marks. Atlast I hoped I will end up in positive marks, Unfortunately I ended up getting negative marks. I can't express my feeling. That feeling where I didn't know whether to smile or bang my head against the wall.

Other sections to be contd...
